Fuoriporta
VIDEOS, POSTCARDS, DRAWINGS, WRITTEN AND ORAL STORIES, 2020
Fuoriporta is a project born in 2020 during the pandemic and entirely developed by distance, with the help of postmen and the medium of postcards. The research is a collaboration with Giulia Ferrante, sociologist and linguist, and aim to create an online archive of memories and stories linked to the village of Pennapiedimonte in Abruzzo, Italy. The work is presented during a conference held at the Bicocca University in Milan on museum anthropology and the RAI programme Mezzogiorno Italia. A second part of the project Cartoline di Viaggio again involves citizens that, through an online creative workshop (Itinerari di viaggio) led by the artist, designed postcards to reach the first, second and third generation of migrants from Pennapiedimonte that now live abroad. The result of this correspondence is exhibited during the festival Racconti di Viaggio organised in September 2021 with the patronage of the municipality of Pennapiedimonte and the Maiella National Park. Using a social and anthropological approach, the project uses different disciplines to plan and co-work together with the inhabitants.
