Contact No. 1 is part of a series of short stories written with the intention of suggesting ways of contact between strangers. In the installation dedicated to the short story, a bathtub is the portal between two universes: the one in which we are comfortably lying supine in soap bubbles, and the one of the neighbours, whose lives run parallel downstairs. But how close are they, the neigh- bours? Only a thin wall separates us, yet we often know no more about them than their names. Water, however, is the medium through which contact can take place.
